2 Local Companies Compete for U.S. Entrepreneur Award

Chief executive officers Shane Emmett and Peter Harrison, representing Richmond-area companies Health Warrior and Snagajob, have been announced as Mid-Atlantic region finalists for the 2016 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.

Emmett founded Health Warrior — a Richmond-based manufacturer of snack bars made from chia seeds — in 2010 along with college friends Dan Gluck and Nick Morris.

Harrison is CEO of Snagajob, the Henrico County-based owner of a widely used hourly job-search site, which also has an office in Arlington.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the awards program, which recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

The business leaders were selected by a panel of independent judges, and award winners will be announced at an event on June 15 at The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner.

Award winners in several national categories, as well as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Overall National Award winner, will be announced at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., in November.

The U.S. Entrepreneur Of The Year Overall Award winner then moves on to compete for the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in Monaco in June 2017.
